Learn More About Our History

BITE's journey began with a group of passionate university students aiming to change the landscape of education and community welfare in Turkana.

BITE (Building Informed Taste through Education) was established by a group of university students in Kenya, driven by a collective commitment to address pressing social issues in Turkana. The organization was formed in response to the high illiteracy rates, food insecurity, and the impacts of climate change affecting the region.

The initiative began with students recognizing the urgent need for educational reform and sustainable practices in their community. They aimed to create a grassroots organization that empowers local residents through education and community engagement. By leveraging their academic backgrounds and passion for social change, these youth sought to develop programs that address the unique challenges faced by Turkana.

Youth are central to BITE's mission, as they bring innovative ideas and energy essential for effective community mobilization. Their involvement fosters a sense of ownership and encourages active participation among community members. By focusing on education, climate change solutions, and food security, BITE exemplifies how young leaders can drive meaningful change in their communities, ensuring a sustainable future for Turkana.
